Now that the dust has settled from my trip, I figured I’d share some highlights and favorite moments from my six days in LA.
Beverly Hills (That’s Where I Wanna Be)
But honestly, that is where I wanted to be. Beverly Hills has some of the world’s most iconic shopping (and some of the most beautiful people). I even watched as a model was photographed wearing one of Christian Dior’s latest creations. The glamour of walking down Rodeo Drive will never be lost on me.
Places to eat/drink:
We enjoyed a delicious boozy lunch at Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bistro. The service was
great, the drinks were fabulous, and the food was outrageously tasty. The Soupe à l’Oignon (aka French Onion Soup for the) was some of the best I’ve ever had. Prices for the central Beverly Hills location weren’t as bad as you’d expect– Unless you’re ordering one of the specials. Even still, it was worth it to experience yet another excellent meal from Chef Keller.
Also not to be missed is Real Housewife of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump’s first LA hotspot, Villa Blanca. True to its name, the interior of the restaurant is elegantly decorated in white. The bartender was knowledgeable and provided excellent service as we enjoyed cocktails at the bar. I enjoyed sipping one of the signature drinks, a Pump-tini, which had vodka, grapefruit, raspberry, and a sugar-coated rim.
TIP: Villa Blanca offers a fantastic happy hour special– 50% off all cocktails! Monday through Thursday from 4pm-7pm, and Friday from 4pm-6pm. Located in the heart of Beverly Hills and walking distance to Rodeo Drive and Canon Street, Villa Blanca’s happy hour is the perfect way to start off your night in the Hills.
Disneyland: Magic Kingdom & California Adventure
Disneyland was a day for the books! I truly loved every single second. Full recap can be found here.
We spent the day hopping between the two parks, experiencing as many attractions as the wait times would allow! Highlights included Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates, and Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom, and the Cars ride (Radiator Springs Racers) in California Adventure. We did quick service meals for breakfast (Jolly Holiday Cafe in MK) and lunch (Lucky Fortune in CA), but sat for table service at Storyteller’s Cafe in the Grand Californian resort. Definitely worth it if you have the time! As usual, the food and drinks were fantastic. Disney never disappoints!
Character offerings were slim (Chip & Dale and my fave princess, Snow White, were nowhere to be found), but we were able to hop right in line to meet Donald Duck in CA and Mickey Mouse right before we exited MK at midnight.
TIP: Even if you only have one day to spend, get a park hopper ticket. That way you can enjoy the perks of both parks all day long! (Plus the Frozen show in California Adventure is a great way to cool off during those blazing hot days!)
BrunchCon LA 2017
In case you missed my last post, here’s a quick overview of the most fabulous brunch-themed convention in the world.
For 2.5 hours, guests have the option to sample brunchy foods from some of LA’s best vendors. Broken down into ten different themed sections with clever, catchy names (#FoodPorn is a perfect example), BrunchCon had a wide variety of food offerings. Pair that with bars serving bottomless mimosas & bloody mary’s and an abundance of photo ops and you’ve the greatest brunch in the history of great brunches.
TIP: If you’re interested in attending next year’s BrunchConLA (or BrunchCon in any of the other participating cities), keep your eyes peeled for discount codes of up to $21 off each ticket! I scored one of those deals and it made this sweet day even sweeter.
Other notable parts of my trip included:
- A driving tour through West Hollywood and North Hollywood. Saw the perimeter of Paramount Studios, and drove through the Hollywood Walk of Fame! So many landmarks and iconic buildings in this area!
- A one-hour deep tissue massage from Heaven Massage & Wellness Center on Ventura Blvd.
- And, of course, my trip was book-ended by In-N-Out burgers and fries. A perfect way to begin and end my time in La La Land.
Until next time, travelers.
